So what does an author do when a deadline for your next book and edits for another book loom over-head like a thundercloud? Take a day off, of course!
Hello everyone, The Queen of Procrastination, Patricia Davids here again. Just a little update on what I’ve been up to. I’m currently working on another installment in the North Country Amish series and working on edits in the final installment of the Amish of Cedar Grove as well. One would think that being buried under that much work would keep me mired at home with my nose to the grindstone, right. Right? Ha! I didn’t acquire the title of Queen of Procrastination for nothing. Nope, I swept all my work aside and headed to Wichita to see my daughter and granddaughter for the day. Alright, I didn’t technically take the whole day off as I had a speaking engagement in the morning.
I was invited to speak at the Our Savior Lutheran Church women’s group in Mulvane. I picked up my trusty assistant (daughter Kathy) on the way and headed on down to Mulvane. Our host Linda and the group gave us a very warm welcome. Probably one of the most active groups I’ve has the pleasure of speaking too. They had tons of questions about my Amish research and writing career. Some even had their own tidbits of Amish information to share from their own experiences with our Kansas Amish as well as other Amish from across the country. We really enjoyed the group.
After our Q&A session, daughter and I packed up the car and headed back to Wichita and picked up my granddaughter to make the rest of the day a girl’s day out. We had a wonderful lunch and then hit the town to do some shopping for things I wanted for my house. Because of course, I need more projects to do around my house versus sitting and working on my writing. We hit a lot of places and I did manage to find a few things. All and all, I had a wonderful trip to town and enjoyed some quality time with two of my favorite women. Now it’s time to settle in and put my face back into my work to finish my deadlines.
Don’t forget to mark your calendars for February 18th, as the next installment of the North Country Amish, The Amish Teacher’s Dilemma hits the shelves.
